Kremlin Reports No Ceasefire Request in Trump-Putin Call

(MENAFN) The Kremlin confirmed that US President Donald Trump did not request a ceasefire from Russian President Vladimir Putin during their Monday phone call, nor did the two leaders set a date for new trilateral talks involving Russia, Ukraine, and the US.

Speaking at a press briefing, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow appreciates Washington’s mediation efforts on Ukraine and is interested in continuing the process. He clarified that Trump did not seek a ceasefire before a full resolution is reached, despite reports suggesting Kyiv needed a pause to assist Arab states countering Iranian drone attacks.

Peskov also addressed US sanctions on Russian oil, stating that partial lifting of these sanctions was not discussed in detail. He noted that US restrictions are intended to stabilize global energy markets amid tensions in the Persian Gulf.
